synopsis

The interactive memorial wall developed for Szurdokpüspöki uniquely showcases the rich history, traditions, and memories of the community. This installation not only provides an engaging experience but also offers opportunities for in-depth exploration of the village’s past and values, as well as facilitating research activities. The memorial wall combines multiple modern technological solutions, tailored to the location’s specific features and the community’s needs.

Innovative Audiovisual Experience

The memorial wall features a large projected surface that brings the village’s history to life through a mosaic-like flow of images and videos. The touch-free interaction allows visitors to explore the content using their movements. As they approach, the projected elements expand in size and resolution, enhancing the discovery process.

  • Dynamic Content: In its default state, the memorial wall plays a video showcasing the village. As visitors approach, the display transitions into a dynamic flow of mosaic-like images and videos.

  • Touch-Free Interaction: The technology enables visitors to select content simply by moving.

  • Group-Friendly Experience: The installation supports interactions from multiple visitors simultaneously, making it ideal for community events.

Versatile Functionality

The technology behind the memorial wall serves multiple purposes. Beyond presenting the village’s history, the installation can also function as a visual tool for local theatrical performances. This adaptability ensures that the technology provides maximum value to the community.

Szurdokpüspöki’s Historical and Natural Heritage

Located at the foot of the Mátra Mountains, in the widening valley of the Zagyva River, Szurdokpüspöki offers a unique setting for the memorial wall. The village’s name reflects its geographical and historical significance, originating from the nearby gorge (“szurdok”) and its historical ownership by the bishopric of Eger. The project aims to honor and showcase this heritage while employing cutting-edge technology.

The interactive memorial wall represents the perfect fusion of tradition and innovation, supporting the community in preserving and celebrating its cultural heritage for years to come.

Digitized and Restored Content

The project placed significant emphasis on restoring old photographs and videos. The collected materials were digitally enhanced, converted into high-resolution formats, and organized thematically. Behind the scenes, an online administrative interface supports continuous content updates and expansions, ensuring the memorial wall remains a living repository of the village’s heritage.
